Privacy Policy

We collect only what we need to respond to you and run our programs. We never sell your personal information.

Who we are

This Privacy Policy explains how Right Lane Initiative (“Right L.A.N.E.,” “we,” “us” or “our”), a nonprofit organization based in Chicago, Illinois, collects, uses, shares and protects personal information when you visit our website and any related pages (the “Site”), or contact us through the Site.

By using the Site, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site or submit information through it.

Information we collect

We collect only what we need to run the Site and our programs. The information we collect falls into three groups.

Information you give us. When you use a form on the Site, we collect what you type into it:

Donation information. If you donate through the Site, payment is handled by a third-party payment processor. We receive your name, contact details, donation amount and frequency, and confirmation of payment. We do not receive or store your full card number or security code.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically records technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, device type, the pages you request and the date and time. We use it to keep the Site running, secure and reliable. At the time of this policy, the Site does not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels or third-party analytics. If that changes, we will update this policy.

Please do not send us sensitive information through the Site’s forms, such as Social Security numbers, bank or card numbers, passwords, or health information. We do not ask for it and do not need it.

How we use information

We use personal information to:

We do not use your information to make automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.

How we share information

We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it for third-party advertising. We share it only in these limited cases:

We may share information that cannot reasonably identify you, such as overall numbers of people reached, to report on our work.

Cookies and similar technologies

The Site does not currently set advertising or analytics cookies. Your browser or our providers may use strictly necessary technical storage (for example, to deliver pages securely). The forms on the Site send your answers to Google Forms; Google may set its own cookies when you load or use Google services. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Because there is no common standard, the Site does not respond to “Do Not Track” signals.

How long we keep information

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described above, to meet legal, tax and accounting requirements, to resolve disputes and to enforce our agreements. Form responses and email lists are reviewed periodically and deleted or anonymized when no longer needed. Donation records are kept as long as the law requires.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical and organizational measures to protect personal information, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections to the Site and restricted access to responses. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a breach affecting your information, we will notify you and the authorities as required by law.

Your choices and rights

You can contact us at any time at rightlane.initiative@gmail.com to:

Email. You can unsubscribe from our emails at any time using the link in any message, or by contacting us. We will still send essential messages, such as donation receipts.

State privacy rights. Depending on where you live, such as California, you may have additional rights over your personal information, including the right to know, access, correct and delete it, and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law. To exercise a right, email us with your request and the state where you live. We may need to verify your identity before acting on it, and you may use an authorized agent to make a request for you.

If you believe a child has given us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it. Minors under 18 should have a parent or guardian’s permission before volunteering or submitting a form.

The Site may link to websites and services run by others, including social media platforms and our partners. We do not control them and are not responsible for their privacy practices. Please read their policies before giving them information.

Where information is processed

We are based in the United States, and our providers may process and store information in the United States and other countries. By using the Site you understand that your information may be transferred to, stored and processed in those places, which may have different data-protection rules than where you live.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the new version on this page and change the “Last updated” date. If a change is significant, we will take reasonable steps to let you know. Your continued use of the Site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
