Terms of Use
Please read these terms carefully. They explain how you may use our site, what we expect from donors, volunteers, partners and fundraisers, and how we limit our responsibility.
Acceptance of these terms
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are a legal agreement between you and Right Lane Initiative (“Right L.A.N.E.,” “we,” “us” or “our”) that governs your use of our website and any related pages (the “Site”). By accessing or using the Site, or by submitting a form through it, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Site.
You must be at least 18 years old, or have the permission of a parent or guardian, to submit forms or donate through the Site.
Using the Site
You may use the Site for lawful purposes and in line with these Terms. You agree not to:
- break any law or regulation, or infringe the rights of others;
- provide false, misleading or impersonating information in any form or message;
- interfere with or disrupt the Site, its servers or networks, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of it;
- use bots, scrapers or other automated tools to collect data from the Site or to submit forms, except as we permit in writing;
- upload or transmit viruses or any harmful, abusive, defamatory, harassing or unlawful material; or
- use the Site or any information from it to send unsolicited commercial messages.
We may suspend or restrict access to the Site at any time, for any reason, without notice.
Volunteer, partnership and fundraiser requests
Submitting a volunteer sign-up, partnership inquiry or fundraiser form is a request for us to contact you. It does not create a volunteer, employment, partnership, agency or other relationship, and it does not guarantee that we will accept your request. We may decline or end any volunteer role, partnership or fundraiser at our discretion.
You agree that the information you submit is accurate and that you have the right to share it.
Fundraisers on behalf of Right L.A.N.E.
If we approve a fundraiser that benefits Right L.A.N.E., you agree that:
- you are acting independently and are not our employee, agent or representative, and you may not enter into agreements or make statements on our behalf without our written approval;
- you will describe the fundraiser and our work truthfully and will not make misleading claims about how funds will be used;
- you will follow all laws that apply to fundraising and will not promise donors tax benefits or anything else we have not approved;
- you will use our name, logo and branding only as we permit in writing and in line with our brand guidelines; and
- all funds intended for Right L.A.N.E. must be given to us as we direct, and we may end or ask you to stop any fundraiser at any time.
Right L.A.N.E. is not responsible for the actions of anyone running a fundraiser on its own behalf.
Donations
Donations to Right L.A.N.E. are voluntary gifts that support our mission. When you donate through the Site, you confirm that you are authorized to use the payment method and that your information is accurate.
- Payment processing. Donations are handled by third-party payment processors, whose terms and privacy policies apply. We do not store your full card details.
- Use of funds. We use gifts where they are needed most to carry out our programs and operations, unless you tell us in writing that a gift is for a specific program and we agree to it in writing. If a program is completed or cannot be carried out, we may use the funds for a similar purpose.
- Refunds. Donations are generally final and non-refundable. If you made a donation in error, such as the wrong amount or a duplicate gift, contact us within 60 days at rightlane.initiative@gmail.com and we will review it in good faith.
- Recurring gifts. If you choose a monthly gift, we or our processor will charge you each month until you cancel. You can cancel at any time by emailing us. Cancellation applies to future payments.
- Tax treatment. We do not provide tax advice. Whether your gift is tax-deductible depends on our tax-exempt status and your own circumstances, so please consult a tax professional. We will provide a written acknowledgment of your gift on request.
We reserve the right to decline or return any donation.

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, RIGHT L.A.N.E. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Before filing a claim, you agree to first try to resolve the dispute informally by contacting us at rightlane.initiative@gmail.com and giving us 30 days to respond. Any dispute that is not resolved will be brought only in the state or federal courts located in Cook County, Illinois, and you consent to their jurisdiction and venue.
Changes and termination
We may update these Terms at any time by posting the new version on this page and changing the “Last updated” date. Your continued use of the Site after a change means you accept the new Terms. We may suspend or end your access to the Site at any time, for any reason. Sections that by their nature should survive termination, including those on content and brand, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification and governing law, will survive.
General
These Terms and our Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and Right L.A.N.E. about the Site. If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a right is not a waiver of it. You may not assign these Terms without our written consent; we may assign them to a successor organization.
