How Right L.A.N.E. began.
Right L.A.N.E. began with a simple belief: young people thrive in a community that is safe, welcoming and invested in them. This is how that belief became an organization.
Every organization starts with a belief. Ours is that young people do their best when they are surrounded by a community that is safe, welcoming and invested in them.
How it was founded
Right L.A.N.E. was founded by Vincent White, who saw how much a steady, supportive community can shape a young person’s future. He set out to build that community: a nonprofit that guides young people, and the wider community around them, toward an environment built for their success.
The organization took its name and its mark from that goal. L.A.N.E. stands for Leadership, Ambition, Navigation and Empowerment: four pillars for helping young people move in the right direction.
Where the idea came from
The idea is as simple as the road it is named for. Young people need a clear lane to travel in, with people alongside them who want them to arrive. Our logo says it plainly: an arrow pointing right, drawn with the dotted lines you see on a street. Right L.A.N.E. is that lane.
A safe, fun community where young people can learn and grow.
Why the board got involved
Right L.A.N.E. is guided by a board of directors who share one conviction: young people deserve a community that believes in them. Here is what brought each of them to the table.

The goal and the plan ahead
Our goal is simple: a safe, fun community where young people can learn, grow and lead. Here is how we are working toward it.
- 01
Now
Building our foundation: bringing our board, partners and neighborhoods together around one shared mission.
- 02
Next
Growing our reach: welcoming more volunteers, partners and supporters, and extending our impact to more neighborhoods.
- 03
Later
Making it last: a community across Chicago where every young person has a safe place to learn and grow.
